Thanks very much for visiting my website.
I write exciting historical mysteries that often include romantic elements and light-hearted low-heat historical romances. I live in the beautiful Highlands of Scotland and count the Loch Ness Monster as a close neighbour. I am an animal lover and vegetarian. When I am not writing or researching different time periods to write about, I can be found trying to read twenty different novels at the same time.
My writing career has had its ups and downs. I tried and failed to get accepted by a traditional publisher for about twenty years, which was devastating as writing was the only career I had ever wanted. It also made me insecure about my writing ability. When self-publishing became more established I tried that and have been relieved and grateful to gain a lot of loyal readers. I write books under three different names, with my middle name – Jane – being modified for these novels. I also write as Clare Solomon for fantasy and science-fiction and C. J. Solomon for non-fiction books aimed at helping writers gain greater success. I also have a book editing business.
Some of my favourite historical novels are “Brat Farrah” by Josephine Tey, “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen, “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens and the “Cadfael” medieval mystery series by Ellis Peters.
You can find out about my novels here or read samples of “Lady Tinbough’s Dilemma“, the first book in my historical mystery series, or my historical romance, “Complications“.
